Contact-Point Tee Drill
Contact point
6 min
Begin with 6–10 quality reps or a short controlled set; stop before mechanics degrade. For throwing/pitching, workload and intensity must remain age/level appropriate.
Beginner
Why this drill
Variable tee locations constrain the hitter to organize contact depth and direction for the actual pitch location instead of using one fixed contact point.
Setup
Set tee at inner, middle, and outer-third locations.
How to perform it
- 1Hit controlled line drives while allowing contact point and direction to change with location.
Key feel
Match the barrel to the ball location, not one fixed contact point.
Success cue
Cleaner centered contact with appropriate direction for each tee location.
Recommended reps
Begin with 6–10 quality reps or a short controlled set; stop before mechanics degrade. For throwing/pitching, workload and intensity must remain age/level appropriate.
Progression
rehearsal → constrained rep → variable rep → game-like rep when appropriate.
Common mistake
Reaching for the outside location or pulling off the inside location instead of adjusting contact depth.
