Constraint Rep Blocks

Force a technical correction by changing the conditions, not the cue

12 min
3 blocks of 10 constrained reps
Intermediate

Why this drill

Builds toward force a technical correction by changing the conditions, not the cue.

Instructions

  1. 1Pick the one fault your film keeps showing and choose a constraint that makes it impossible.
  2. 2Run ten reps under that constraint at a speed where you stay clean.
  3. 3Remove the constraint and run five free reps immediately after.
  4. 4Keep the constraint that changes the free reps the most and drop the rest.

What to focus on

The free reps after the constraint, not the constrained ones.

Recommended reps

3 blocks of 10 constrained reps

Common mistake

Stacking so many constraints that the movement stops resembling the skill.
