Backhand Contact Point Fence Drill
Move contact out and away from the body
8 min
4 sets of 10
Beginner
Why this drill
Improve the diagnosed technical behavior while preserving functional strengths.
Setup
Begin with shadow/rehearsal or controlled feed appropriate to the action.
Instructions
- 1Stand close to a fence or wall with the racquet extended toward it at address.
- 2Rally backhands, keeping the same distance from the body found at address.
- 3Reset position anytime the racquet arm collapses in toward the ribs.
Key feel
A consistent arm-to-body distance at contact.
Success cue
The targeted behavior becomes more repeatable on comparable balls without creating a new visible breakdown.
Recommended reps
4 sets of 10
Progression
Shadow/rehearsal → controlled feed → directional live ball → variable feed → point-based constraint → match-like execution.
Common mistake
Letting the ball get too close, cramping the swing.
