Low-to-High Swing Path Ladder
Build topspin with a low-to-high swing path
9 min
5 sets of 8
Intermediate
Why this drill
Improve the diagnosed technical behavior while preserving functional strengths.
Setup
Begin with shadow/rehearsal or controlled feed appropriate to the action.
Instructions
- 1Set two targets: a low cone at knee height behind you and a high cone above the net on the far side.
- 2Start the racquet head below the incoming ball's bounce height.
- 3Accelerate the racquet head from the low cone up through contact toward the high cone.
- 4Check for consistent net clearance and depth as spin increases.
Key feel
Racquet path traveling low-to-high through the ball.
Success cue
The targeted behavior becomes more repeatable on comparable balls without creating a new visible breakdown.
Recommended reps
5 sets of 8
Progression
Shadow/rehearsal → controlled feed → directional live ball → variable feed → point-based constraint → match-like execution.
Common mistake
Swinging flat and level, producing a low, driving ball with no margin.
