Keep one stable grip and firm wrist through both volley sides
8 min
5 sets of 10
Intermediate
Why this drill
Improve the diagnosed technical behavior while preserving functional strengths.
Setup
Begin with shadow/rehearsal or controlled feed appropriate to the action.
Instructions
- 1Check for a continental grip before each rep, alternating forehand and backhand volleys.
- 2Firm the wrist at contact and let the shoulder and racquet face angle create the shot.
- 3Feed volleys randomly to both sides without allowing a grip change between them.
Key feel
A firm, stable wrist and one grip for both volley sides.
Success cue
The targeted behavior becomes more repeatable on comparable balls without creating a new visible breakdown.
Recommended reps
5 sets of 10
Progression
Shadow/rehearsal → controlled feed → directional live ball → variable feed → point-based constraint → match-like execution.
Common mistake
Changing grips or breaking the wrist at contact, causing mis-hits.
