Chin-Space Posture Setup
Chin-down head position at setup
6 min
8 posture rehearsals, then 2 sets of 5 shots.
Beginner
Why this drill
Give the lead shoulder room to turn under the chin so the backswing is not restricted by a crowded neck position.
Setup
Take a normal address position in front of a mirror or with the camera face-on. Place a fist-width reference (your own hand, or simply a visual note) between chin and chest.
How to perform it
- 1From address, lift the chin until roughly a fist of space exists between chin and chest while keeping the tilt from the hips, not the lower back.
- 2Hold, then turn to the top and confirm the lead shoulder passes under the chin without the head jamming down.
- 3Rehearse 8 times, then hit shots preserving that space.
Key feel
Eyes still look down at the ball, but the neck feels long and the chest has room.
Success cue
Lead shoulder turns under the chin freely and head height stays stable through the backswing.
Recommended reps
8 posture rehearsals, then 2 sets of 5 shots.
Progression
Rebuild the posture with eyes closed, then check on film.
Common mistake
Lifting the whole torso upright or arching the lower back instead of just freeing the neck.
