Beginner
Why this drill
Provide tactile feedback for smoother tempo.
Setup
Where safe and practical, place a small flat coin on a suitable flat portion of putter head during rehearsal, or use an equivalent no-ball smooth-tempo constraint.
How to perform it
- 1Make smooth rehearsal strokes trying not to dislodge the object, then hit normal putts without it.
Key feel
Smooth change of direction and continuous motion.
Success cue
Tempo becomes visibly more consistent without slowing unnaturally.
Recommended reps
5 rehearsals, 10 normal putts.
Progression
Alternate rehearsal and live putt.
Common mistake
Becoming so slow that natural athletic rhythm disappears.
