Landing-Spot Coin Chip
Landing-spot control
8 min
10 chips per club with two different clubs.
Beginner
Why this drill
Make the athlete pick and hit a landing spot instead of guessing at the hole.
Setup
Place a coin or tee as a landing target one third of the way to the hole from just off the green.
How to perform it
- 1Chip so the ball first touches the ground on the marker and lets the ground do the rest.
- 2Change clubs, not swing size, to change roll-out.
Key feel
Same small motion; the club choice changes the rollout.
Success cue
Balls land within a putter length of the marker and finish near the hole.
Recommended reps
10 chips per club with two different clubs.
Progression
Move the landing spot and hole location every five balls.
Common mistake
Adding hand speed to reach the hole instead of taking more loft off the shot.
