Help & Support
Good film in, good coaching out. Start here.
Quick start
- 1Add Film — record or pick a clip of one rep.
- 2Add context — sport, skill, position, and the question you want answered.
- 3Analyze — you get timestamped key moments, coach's notes and drills.
- 4Train — work the drills, then record a new rep and re-analyze.
Filming that gets useful analysis
- One rep per clip, under 45 seconds.
- Phone braced or on a tripod — no panning, no zooming mid-rep.
- Athlete fully in frame, head to feet, for the entire motion.
- Shoot into good light, not into the sun or a bright window.
- Highest frame rate your phone offers (60fps or 120fps slow-mo is ideal).
Camera angles by sport
- Baseball / Softball
- Hitting: open side, hip height, full bat path in frame. Pitching: side-on from the glove side, include the stride and landing.
- Golf
- Face-on and down-the-line, waist height, club and ball both in frame at address and impact.
- Tennis / Pickleball
- Behind or side-on at the baseline. Keep the contact point and the follow-through inside the frame.
- Track
- Side-on, camera fixed (don't pan), 20-30 feet back so 3-4 strides stay in frame.
- Weight room
- 45° front-side angle, bar and both feet visible for the whole rep.
- Team sports
- Film the athlete, not the ball. Stay wide enough to show footwork and body position.
What SkillSight can and can't do
- It reads what the camera shows. Angles that hide contact, the bar, or the landing foot lower confidence.
- It never invents measurements — no bat speed, launch angle, sprint times or bar velocity unless you supply measured data.
- It is coaching feedback, not medical advice. It does not diagnose injuries.
Frequently asked
- Why was my clip rejected?
- Clips must be under 45 seconds and 120 MB. Short clips keep analysis fast and accurate — trim to the single rep you want reviewed.
- Where is my film stored?
- On your device. Film stays in local device storage and is never uploaded in full — only a small set of sampled frames is sent for analysis.
- Why does my film disappear on another device?
- Because film is on-device, it does not sync between phone, tablet and laptop. Re-upload the clip on the device you want to review it on.
- Analysis says the video isn't athletic film.
- SkillSight checks relevance before analyzing. Re-film with the athlete clearly visible for the full motion, in daylight or good gym lighting.
- Why these drills and not others?
- Every drill is tied to the fault the analysis diagnosed, filtered by your sport, position and athlete stage (age band + level). Set your stage in Profile for correct dosage.
- How do I see improvement over time?
- Record a new rep from inside a Train session, then re-analyze. Progress compares the new rep against the original finding.
- I'm out of space for film.
- Delete older clips from the SkillSight library. Removing a clip frees device storage but keeps the written analysis.
- Billing, trials and restoring purchases.
- Subscriptions bought in the iOS app are managed through your Apple ID; use Restore Purchases in Profile if a paid plan isn't showing. Web subscriptions are managed from Profile.
Coaches and parents
Coach Mode lets you build a roster, keep each player's film in an isolated workspace, and invite players to claim their own analyses. Film uploaded by a coach stays on the coach's device. Athletes under the age of digital consent need a guardian on the account.
